The Jubilee Singers is a choral group consisting of female voices which was established in 1973 by past members of the Brisbane Eisteddfod Junior Choir. We are a friendly group with a proud history.
The choir is based in Brisbane with rehearsals held at Ashgrove on Monday evenings and performs at retirement villages, weddings, community concerts and special events. A major concert is held every second year.
Our music covers a broad repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary styles including musical comedy, classical, sacred and jazz with piano accompaniment or a cappella. The Jubilee Singers perform in unison as well as two, three and four part harmony.
The Jubilee singers once again contributed to the Citizenship Ceremony at the Arana Leagues club on Australia Day performing a collection of Australian songs to a very appreciative audience.

We say a sad farewell to our friend, director/conductor of the Jubilee Singers, Lawrie Johnston, who passed away at 12.30 am on Saturday, 4 November, 2023. To say he will be sadly missed is a big understatement. His ability to impart his meaning and understanding of the music presented to him for us was second to none and he did this for us with good humour, tolerance for our shortcomings and a sense of pride when we got it right. A talented musician who was happy to rehearse over and over again a particular phrase or line when we seemed to take forever to ‘get it’. He loved to socialise with us and was a part of the Jubilee Singers as much as any of the singers. He cannot be replaced but he would expect us to find another conductor/director to carry on the work he so proudly carried out.
We will honour his memory and his tireless efforts to be the choir he so loved by continuing to sing and entertain our audiences.

A tribute for Lawrie will be held on Monday, 4 Decembe, 2023r at our rehearsal venue - Ashgrove West Uniting Church, 491 Waterworks Rd, Ashgrove, at 7.30pm.
